Gateshead Great Escape

Are you disabled or a carer for someone who is disabled?

Do you feel socially isolated? Social isolation can be seen as lacking social contacts, lacking quality or meaningful relationships, or lacking contact or engagement with other people.

If this describes how you feel, Gateshead Access Panel is setting up a new group called The Great Escape The Great Escape aims to:

  • Help people build confidence to try things without feeling anxious or excluded
  • Empower disabled people to go to nearby visitor attractions Establish a group of disabled people who would like to build confidence and friendship, so in time they can confidently organise trips and visits for themselves.
  • Provide the group with information about some historical sites in Gateshead.

The Group will explore a range of local venues, bearing in mind the needs of disabled people in relation to transport arrangements, parking, availability of toilet facilities, ramps and handrails and booking or arranging assistance.

If you would like to have the opportunity to be a part of this new group please contact Ian Atkinson on 0191 443 0058 to register your interest.
